A man fell through the ice on the Lomovsky Canal in Dnipro (VIDEO).

Before the Lomovsky Canal had a chance to freeze over, dozens of fishermen were already out on the ice, as reported by "Vідомо" citing "Dnipro Operative".

During the fishing, one of the fishermen fell through the ice.

Concerned individuals rushed to his aid with a rope.

Dnipropetrovsk residents are urged not to venture onto thin ice, to avoid areas with currents, and to exercise caution near bodies of water.

We also remind you what to do if you do fall through the ice:

• do not panic; stay afloat, avoiding submerging your head;
• call for help;
• try to climb back onto the ice by spreading your arms wide, crawling onto the edge with your chest, and alternately bringing your legs up to the surface;
• make the most efficient use of your body to increase your area of support;
• once back on the ice, roll over and crawl back in the direction you came from, where the ice is already known to be solid.

Afterward, it is essential to change clothes. If dry clothing is not available, wring out the wet clothes and put them back on.

To warm up, engage in some physical exercises. You can rub your body with a dry woolen cloth, and then find a sheltered spot from the wind, wrap yourself up well, and if possible, drink something hot.
