The Mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, commented on the decision of the Basmanny Court in Moscow, which sentenced him in absentia to 9 years in a penal colony for "fake news regarding the Russian army and calls to kill Russians," as reported by "Vidimo."
"I intentionally did not comment on this 'news' yesterday. To put it briefly, this is undoubtedly a point of pride. It is recognition of my contributions to my State. It is a response to all the scoundrels who periodically attempt to compromise me and tell (especially from abroad) 'who is more patriotic,'” Filatov wrote on social media.
He also added that the verdict of the Russian court, due to certain circumstances, would bring him some inconveniences.
"One can laugh for a long time at such 'sentences,' but it really isn't funny. Politics and war will someday come to an end, but I will never be able to travel, for instance, to Thailand or Egypt. However, I am proud to now be in the company of Vasyl Maliuk, Kyrylo Budanov, our military, and journalists, rather than 'invalids' and 'pensioners,'" Filatov concluded.
