On Sunday, February 23, medical professionals in Marganets provided assistance to a woman who stepped on an explosive device. This was reported by "Vydomo" citing a post by doctor Valentina Marchenko on Facebook.
"The day before, a call was made to the Nikopol Emergency Medical Service, a structural unit of the KP 'OCEMD and MK' DOR, regarding the injury of a 67-year-old woman from the explosion of a butterfly mine that she accidentally stepped on. The woman lives in the city, but she has a summer house in a coastal village where she raises a small farm and goes there daily to feed her chickens," – the message states.
After finishing her chores, the woman decided to take a walk in the village with her husband. As dusk fell, she did not notice when she stepped on an object on the ground. An explosion occurred, and part of her foot was severed.
An emergency medical team from the Marganets substation was dispatched to assist her. Her neighbor transported her to the ambulance in a wheelchair.
Medical professionals diagnosed the victim with a partial amputation of her foot. She was immediately provided with medical care according to protocol and then transported for treatment to the nearest medical facility.
"We wish the injured woman a swift recovery, and deep gratitude and respect go to the fearless medical team for their courage, humanity, and the quality of medical assistance provided to the injured woman," – Valentina Marchenko added.
