The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, is set to convene European leaders for an emergency summit in Paris on Monday, February 17, in response to the challenges posed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski during the Munich Security Conference, as quoted by Politico.
"I am very pleased that President Macron has called our leaders to Paris," Sikorski stated, adding that he expects European leaders to seriously discuss the challenges posed by Trump.
He explained that the White House chief employs a method of operation often referred to as "testing the waters."
"You push and see what happens, and then you change your position... And we must react," Sikorski added.
According to two unnamed EU officials, the meeting is expected to take place on Monday. Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, as reported by Politico, has neither confirmed nor denied the information regarding the emergency summit.
Later, Sikorski noted that Poland will be represented at the Paris summit by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
U.S. officials have repeatedly stated their work on a "peace plan" aimed at ending the full-scale war of the Russian Federation (RF) against Ukraine. According to White House Special Representative for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, "the peace plan will be presented solely by Trump."
At the same time, media reports indicate that the development of the American "peace plan" has stalled, as Washington seeks to understand the perspectives of European countries.
Recently, Trump also promised that Kiev would participate in negotiations to end the war.
