The team of American President Donald Trump will initiate Russian-Ukrainian peace talks in Saudi Arabia.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing Politico.
According to anonymous sources, a Republican legislator, and two American officials, senior members of the Trump administration are heading to Saudi Arabia to commence peace negotiations with Russian and Ukrainian negotiators.
Politico states that National Security Advisor Mike Walts will join Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witkoff, the President's representative in the Middle East, in the coming days to initiate discussions aimed at ending the war.
However, the publication reports that Trump's special representative for Ukrainian-Russian negotiations, Keith Kellogg, will not be present during these talks.
Officials also indicated that Trump's team has no plans to include representatives from other major European countries in the negotiations. According to Politico, this could offend NATO allies who have publicly urged President Trump to ensure they have a seat at the negotiating table.
The publication notes that the meeting could mark a significant moment in Trump's pursuit of a peace process and would be the first major gathering of representatives from Russia and Ukraine since the war began in 2022.
It is worth mentioning that earlier today Bloomberg reported that high-ranking officials from the U.S. and Russia will meet in Saudi Arabia next week.
Moreover, on February 13, President Trump stated that representatives from the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia would allegedly hold a meeting in Saudi Arabia next week.
However, a source in the presidential team told RBK-Ukraine that Ukraine has not planned to conduct negotiations in Saudi Arabia next week.
Recall that yesterday Saudi Arabia expressed its readiness to host a meeting between Trump and Putin.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the rumors regarding possible negotiations in Saudi Arabia concerning Ukraine.
According to him, this is not a serious discussion.
