In Dnipro lies a genuine treasure trove of geological heritage – the Museum of Geology and Mineralogy at the National Mining University. Its history dates back to 1901, making it one of the oldest geological museums in Ukraine. This information was reported by "Vidomo," referencing "Nash misto".

Over more than a century of existence, it has amassed an impressive collection of about 3,000 exhibits, offering a unique glimpse into the history of our planet. The museum is not merely a repository of artifacts; it serves as an active center for scientific research and educational activities, enhancing the understanding of geological processes, the evolution of life, and the formation of Earth's mineral wealth.

The museum's exhibition captivates with its diversity. It encompasses a wide range of geological periods and geographic regions, showcasing samples from Ukraine and around the world.

Among the most striking exhibits is a massive fragment of a beryl crystal weighing 7.75 kg, extracted from the pegmatite veins of Volyn. Next to it, one can see an emerald amethyst geode from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, stunning with its internal structure and play of light.

A highlight of the exhibition is the collection of antimony crystals, some of which reach 35 cm in length. These specimens, arriving from Shikoku Island (Japan), showcase nature's exceptional ability to form such intricate crystalline structures.

Particular interest is drawn to the paleontological finds. Among them are fossilized dinosaur limb remains from the Gobi Desert (Mongolia), vividly demonstrating the scale and power of these ancient giants. Also displayed are impressive imprints of gigantic mollusks, proving the existence of a rich marine fauna in geological history. Equally fascinating are the fossilized tree trunks from the Carboniferous and Paleogene periods, which tell the story of ancient forests and climatic changes on Earth.

The selection of exhibits allows one to trace the evolution of plant life over millions of years.

Special attention is drawn to the collection of meteorites, each of which holds a history of the formation of the Solar System and cosmic processes. These celestial messengers, preserved after falling to Earth, provide a glimpse into the boundless expanses of space.

In addition to the main exhibition, the museum boasts an extensive collection that includes thousands of rock, mineral, and fossil samples used in scientific research and educational programs. This is quite understandable, as it is located within an active educational institution directly linked to the mining industry and its derivatives.

Earlier, we reported that a unique collection of banknotes was transferred to the museum in Dnipropetrovsk region.
