When Ukraine and the US might finalize a rare earth deal: media reveals the date.

The USA and Ukraine may sign an agreement on rare earth metals as early as this week. Ukrainian officials are planning to arrive in Washington on Friday, February 28.

This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Barron's and Bloomberg.

According to Barron's, an unnamed Ukrainian official stated that government officials are continuing to work on the details of the agreement regarding rare earth resources.

"At the moment, we are considering a visit to Washington on Friday to sign the agreement," he added.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg, citing its own sources, claims that tomorrow, February 26, the Cabinet is recommending the signing of the rare earth agreement with the USA.

The Deal is Agreed

Recall that earlier, Financial Times, referring to sources, reported that Ukraine and the USA have agreed on the details of the rare earth metals agreement.

The publication, citing sources, indicated that Ukraine is ready to sign a deal that provides for joint development of its mineral resources with the USA, including oil and gas.

According to FT, the final version of the agreement includes the establishment of a fund to which Ukraine will contribute 50 percent of the revenues from the sale of rare earth resources.

However, the document contains no mentions of security guarantees.
