China has imposed sanctions for the second time in recent days against defense companies in the United States (USA). The restrictions were introduced allegedly "to protect national sovereignty, security, and interests."

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Ministry of Commerce of China.

On January 14, China introduced sanctions against:

  • Inter-Coastal Electronics;
  • System Studies & Simulation;
  • IronMountain Solutions;
  • Applied Technologies Group;
  • Axient, Anduril Industries;
  • Maritime Tactical Systems.

On the same day, sanctions were also imposed against:

  • Pacific Rim Defense;
  • AEVEX Aerospace;
  • LKD Aerospace;
  • Summit Technologies.

It is noted that the aforementioned companies were allegedly involved in the sale of arms to Taiwan.

According to the sanctions:

  • the companies are prohibited from engaging in import-export activities related to China and making new investments in the country;
  • the management of the companies is banned from entering China;
  • the residency or stay of top executives of these companies in China has been revoked.

Relations Between China and the USA

The relationship between the two countries is characterized by both cooperation and competition. Economically, both nations are interdependent: China is one of the largest trading partners of the USA, while American companies heavily rely on the Chinese market and manufacturing capabilities.

At the same time, the USA accuses China of unfair trade practices, intellectual property violations, and more. In particular, the countries have disagreements over Taiwan, the South China Sea, and human rights.

Recently, China has already imposed sanctions against US military companies and their leaders.
