Китай рассматривает возможность продажи американского подразделения TikTok Маску, сообщает Bloomberg.

Chinese officials are considering the sale of TikTok's American division to billionaire Elon Musk as a possible option.

This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing Bloomberg.

According to Bloomberg's sources, Chinese officials insist that TikTok should remain under the ownership of its parent company ByteDance Ltd. The company is also attempting to challenge the impending ban in the United States by appealing to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, judges during the debate on January 10 indicated that they are likely to support the law.

As a result, high-ranking Chinese officials have begun discussing contingency plans for TikTok. At the same time, a deal with billionaire and ally of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, Elon Musk has certain appeal for the Chinese government.

"One of the scenarios being discussed by the Chinese government is that Musk's X - formerly Twitter - would take control of TikTok US and manage the business together, sources say. With over 170 million users in the U.S., TikTok could bolster X's efforts to attract advertisers. Musk has also founded a separate artificial intelligence company, xAI, which could benefit from the vast amounts of data generated by TikTok," Bloomberg explains.

At the same time, it is noted that officials have yet to reach a consensus on this matter.

Attempts to Ban TikTok in the U.S.

Back in 2020, Trump attempted to block downloads of WeChat and TikTok in the U.S., but a year later, the current President Joe Biden revoked the Republican's orders. In the same year, the Democrat signed a law preventing access to TikTok and its use on government devices.

In 2024, Biden signed a bill requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok, or else the platform would be banned in the United States. In December, the company appealed to the Supreme Court, but, as reported by the media, most judges are likely to support the ban.
