The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has sent a letter to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. In it, the head of the DPRK promised to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the country and Russia.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea (KCNA).
In the letter, Kim congratulated the Russian leader and all Russians, including their troops, on the New Year and expressed his readiness to further enhance bilateral relations.
According to him, both leaders have "elevated these relations to a new height this year, through new projects."
"I wish for the new year 2025 to be recorded as the first year of victory in the 21st century, when the Russian army and people will triumph over neo-Nazism and achieve a great victory," wrote the North Korean leader.
In June, during the Russian president's visit to Pyongyang, Kim and Putin signed a mutual defense agreement. Under this agreement, each party committed to assist the other in the event of an armed attack.
Since then, North Korea has sent between 10,000 and 12,000 of its military personnel to Russia to support its war against Ukraine. Most of them are engaged in combat in the Kursk region.
To date, over a thousand DPRK soldiers have been killed or wounded.
Additionally, North Korean troops recently fired on a vehicle with "Kadyrovites." The reason cited was a "language barrier."
