Recall that Ukraine has decided to halt the transit of Russian gas to Europe starting January 1, 2025. This will, in turn, affect Slovakia, which relies on Russian gas.
Kiev immediately rejected any options for continuing the transit, but Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine can transport gas to Europe, but only if it is not Russian.
Last week, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico met with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, they discussed Kyiv's refusal to continue the transit of Russian gas.
After that, Fico threatened that the country would stop electricity supplies, which are needed by Ukraine during network outages.
According to Western media, Poland is ready to assist Ukraine if Slovakia indeed cuts off electricity due to the gas conflict.

He was arrested, but Poberezhnyuk was released from pre-trial detention on bail of over 900,000 hryvnias.
Pastukh has been charged with mistreatment of subordinates. He is currently on the run from law enforcement authorities.
