On Monday evening, a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen towards Israel, prompting an air raid alert in the central part of the country. However, air defense systems intercepted the aerial target, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
According to the Israeli military, sirens sounded in several areas of central Israel around eleven o'clock on Monday night due to a "projectile fired from Yemen."
Later, the IDF stated that the missile launched from Yemen was intercepted thanks to the air defense systems. It was noted that it was shot down before it could "cross into Israeli territory."
"Sirens were activated due to the possibility of debris falling as a result of the interception," added the Israeli military.
According to the Times of Israel, this ballistic missile was likely launched by Houthi militants from Yemen.
Israeli media reported that last month the Houthis fired a total of 11 ballistic missiles and at least 9 drones at Israel.
According to representatives of the Magen David Adom ambulance service, they received no reports of any injuries resulting from the missile launch towards central Israel from Yemen.
However, medics noted that several individuals suffered from "acute anxiety" while rushing to bomb shelters.
