Israel is introducing paid electronic entry permits, ETA-IL, for tourists. These permits will be required for entering the country starting January 1, 2025.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Jerusalem Post.
The ETA-IL permit is an electronic travel authorization that costs 25 shekels (7 dollars) per person. An application for this permit must be submitted separately for each arriving individual.
Once obtained, the ETA-IL is valid for up to two years or until the expiration of the traveler’s current passport, whichever comes first.
The ETA-IL permit allows for a stay in Israel of up to 90 days. If a tourist wishes to remain in the country longer, they must request an extension of their stay from the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority.
To apply for an ETA-IL, applicants will need to provide the following information online:
Additionally, a clear photograph will need to be submitted during the application process.
As explained by the publication, individuals with dual citizenship, one of which is Israeli, will be able to travel to Israel using their foreign passports until December 31, 2025, after which they will require the ETA-IL.
Tourists planning to visit Israel should apply for the ETA-IL several weeks prior to their intended visit and must have a valid foreign passport with at least six months remaining. It is noteworthy that this permit does not guarantee entry into Israel.
We remind you that previously, the Ukrainian embassy stated that after Israel's decision to tighten the entry permit requirements, such new measures "effectively ended the visa-free regime".
The diplomatic mission also emphasized that similar measures will be implemented for Israeli citizens.
