The dollar is expected to rise in value: analysts predict its exchange rate for 2025.

The dollar exchange rate rose by 10.7% in 2024, reaching 42 hryvnias. Financial analysts predict a similar rate of devaluation for the national currency in 2025.

This is stated in the RBC-Ukraine article "Dollar or Euro: Which Currency is Better for Ukrainians to Save Money in 2025".

Financial analyst Andriy Shevchishin believes that the hryvnia will remain weak in the first half of the year, but stabilization may occur in the second half, provided there is a good harvest and active agricultural sector. However, an increase in the dollar exchange rate may resume in the fall, though it is unlikely to be as pronounced as in the first half of the year.

"The forecast for the hryvnia exchange rate against the dollar suggests it could reach 43-44 hryvnias per dollar and stabilize at around 45 before summer. By the end of the year, the rate may rise to 47 hryvnias per dollar," he stated.

Capital Times' investment director Artem Shcherbina believes that the average dollar exchange rate throughout 2025 will not exceed 44 hryvnias. However, he anticipates an increase in the dollar exchange rate to 46 hryvnias by the end of the year. This forecast is based on the assumption that the war may continue throughout the year.

"Of course, there is a possibility of the war ending this year, and much depends on the policies of our international partners. Therefore, the economic trends in 2025 are likely to resemble those we observed in 2024. However, the economy will no longer grow at the rate of 4-5%, as it did at the beginning of last year," he noted.

Shcherbina believes that the 2025 fiscal year will be relatively stable and predictable. However, he suggests that in 2026, financial assistance to Ukraine may significantly decrease, leading to greater fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate.

We remind you that the official dollar exchange rate rose by 10.7% in 2024 to 42.03 hryvnias. The rate continued to rise at the beginning of 2025 and reached a new high of 42.28 hryvnias on January 10.

According to the NBU, the average cash dollar selling rate increased by 11.2% in 2024, reaching 42.07 hryvnias. At the beginning of 2025, the rate was already approaching 43 hryvnias.
