Спустя 5 дней в России сообщили о завершении "открытого горения" на нефтебазе в Энгельсе.

In the Russian city of Engels (Saratov region), on December 13, the open flames at the oil depot, which had been burning for five days, have finally been extinguished. The facility caught fire due to a drone strike on January 8.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busarhin.

The Russian official, as is customary in his statements regarding the fire incident in Engels, refrained from specifying that the local oil depot "Kombinat Kristall" was involved. Instead, he referred to it as an "industrial enterprise."

"At the industrial enterprise in Engels, we managed to extinguish the open flames last night," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Saratov governor also expressed gratitude to "all the emergency service employees, rescuers, and other specialists who are on site around the clock."

Additionally, the Russian official noted that "work continues" at the facility affected by the drone strike.

Strike on the Oil Depot in Engels

As reported earlier, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Engels on the night of January 8, with local authorities and residents discussing a drone attack and the operation of air defense systems.

At that time, the governor of the Saratov region acknowledged that a fire had broken out at the oil depot in the Engels area amid the aerial attack. According to him, the fire ignited due to debris from a drone falling on this "industrial site."

On the same day, The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on the oil depot in Engels. The military clarified that the storage facility "Kombinat Kristall" was targeted.

This oil depot supplied fuel to the military airfield "Engels-2," where the enemy's strategic aviation, specifically the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers, is based.

In a report released on January 13 by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a statement from a Russian insider was cited, indicating that the fire at the oil depot in Engels destroyed three fuel tanks containing 120,000 cubic meters of fuel and damaged six additional fuel tanks.
