Russian intelligence agencies are entering an active phase of information operations against Ukraine and Europe. An intense information war is expected by summer.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine, citing the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrey Kovalenko, on Telegram.
According to him, the main goal of Russia's information operations is to foster Euro-skepticism, support politicians who question the current structure of the EU, destabilize Europe to withdraw support for Ukraine, and alter the current course of the EU.
"Euro-skepticism is the foundation for breaking unity in Europe, creating conditions for the absorption and 'future annexation' of the Baltic states by Russia, as well as lifting sanctions on the RF," Kovalenko noted.
Kovalenko specified that in Ukraine, the Russians will work to create a divide in society between "civilians and military," calling for protests and attempting to shape such a narrative.
Currently, active operations are being conducted by Russian structures such as the FSB, GRU, and SVR (Foreign Intelligence Service).
Kovalenko explained that the FSB in Russia is responsible for monitoring and cleansing the internal information space and creating "fake opposition," including in Europe, as well as recruiting operatives for sabotage in Ukraine.
GRU acts as the executor of information-psychological operations against Ukraine and the West. They provide support to proxy groups in Europe. According to Kovalenko, the GRU has infrastructure on Telegram, X, YouTube, and TikTok, as well as websites for conducting disinformation campaigns, utilizing bloggers. The GRU also participates in recruiting operatives for sabotage activities in Ukraine.
SVR , under the leadership of Naryshkin, carries out diplomatic propaganda and works through foreign media and analytical centers to create "alternative" narratives. They recruit individual politicians and spread lies about terrorist attacks, Ukrainian terrorists, and the division of Ukraine.
The head of the CPD notes that the curator of the information campaigns is Sergey Kiriyenko, who is part of the circle of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
"From February through spring and summer 2025, an active information war will take place. Well, keep a cool head," Kovalenko emphasized.
Recall that the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that Russia is preparing to declare 'victory' by the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
As intelligence indicates, statements about "Russia's victory over NATO" may also emerge, as the enemy's propaganda has long portrayed the full-scale war as a war against the Alliance.
