Big pikes: Kryvyi Rih boasts impressive catches this February (PHOTOS)

In Kryvyi Rih, the catch of the first pike of February has been showcased, as reported by "Vydomo" referencing the Facebook community "Fisherman Kryvyi Rih - Fishing in Kryvyi Rih".

A subscriber shared a photograph featuring four quite large pikes.

It is noteworthy that pikes can grow to lengths exceeding 1.8 meters and weigh up to 35 kg, with females typically larger than males.

The most documented and scientifically confirmed age of a pike is 33 years. Any claims of greater ages likely belong to folklore.

In natural conditions, pikes grow rapidly and can reach weights of 1.5-2 kg by the age of three. However, scientific evidence shows that with ample food, one-year-olds can weigh 500 g, and in some cases even 700-800 g.

Sexual maturity is attained by individuals at the age of 3-4 years.
