The pumping of oil through the Russian Baltic port of Ust-Luga has been suspended. This occurred following an attack on the oil pumping station "Andreapol".

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing Bloomberg.

"If it is confirmed that the strikes from Ukrainian drones damaged the pipeline system supplying Ust-Luga, causing a prolonged halt in oil shipments from the port, this will pose a new significant threat to the global oil market," the publication states.

According to journalists, flows at Ust-Luga dropped to zero on January 29. Shipping data obtained by Bloomberg indicates that the last tanker departed on Wednesday morning, although there was a gap in the ship's signals thereafter.

What is known about the Russian port of Ust-Luga

According to data collected by Bloomberg, the port Ust-Luga processed approximately 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day last year, accounting for about 20% of Russia's total maritime flow. It is considered the second largest after Novorossiysk.

In recent weeks, as reported by the media, "flows from the port have dropped without explanation."

"The timing of this decline coincided with an uncertain - and temporary - incident at the pumping station Unecha in eastern Belarus," the publication notes.

Drone attack on the oil pumping station "Andreapol"

On January 29, drones attacked the oil pumping station "Andreapol". It is a crucial component of the Baltic Pipeline System-2.

As a result of the strike, the filtration pumping platform, tanks with additives were damaged, leading to a spill of oil products and a fire.

The Russians even had to stop the main pipeline through which oil is supplied to the "Ust-Luga" terminal in the Leningrad region.

Recall that drones attacked the largest maritime trade port Ust-Luga on January 4 as well.
