In the Kharkiv region, the cities of Izium and Balakliia are being prepared for a circular defense. Specifically, the construction of fortifications is ongoing as part of planned activities.
This was stated by the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, as reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing a telethon broadcast.
He explained that the measures to strengthen the defense in the region, particularly in the settlements of Izium and Balakliia, are part of the planned activities aimed at enhancing the defense capability of the Kharkiv region.
"Again, these are, so to speak, planned activities that are being undertaken now to take into account the actual front line, possibly its changes in the direction of enemy movement and, in general, its priorities along the front line. Therefore, of course, the construction of fortifications is on the agenda, as well as the circular defense of the city of Balakliia and the city of Izium," Synegubov explained.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration noted that he cannot disclose information about the stage of fortification construction at this time. However, he emphasized that the administration is fulfilling all the tasks set before it.
Synegubov also added that some of the work is being carried out directly by military personnel. According to him, the process is proceeding according to the approved plan and is under full military control.
Recall that yesterday, Andrii Rubtsov, an officer of the communications unit of the 116th separate mechanized brigade, stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are recording attempts by Russians to cross the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region. The enemy is attempting this using inflatable boats, but all attempts have been unsuccessful.
