In one of the parks in Dnipro, an unusual bird for Ukraine has taken up residence – the red rosella. This parrot has colorful plumage and is native to the east and south of Australia, as well as nearby islands. It ended up on the streets of Dnipro after escaping from its owners, who have yet to catch it. Photographer Yuriy Mukhin shared this information in the Facebook community "Birds of Ukraine," as reported by "Vidomo."

According to the resident of Dnipro, this parrot is not afraid of the cold and finds enough food, and it is often seen with a jay. The owners have made several attempts to capture the bird, but these efforts have been in vain: the parrot constantly perches on the treetops and behaves very cautiously.

"He didn’t escape from the Cook Islands, but from his Dnipro owners. He just ran away! But he is a parrot, and we do have snow and frost. They say he isn’t afraid of the cold and has enough food. Today he spent about 30 minutes scratching at the buds, and there are also feeders and plenty of winter branches. My experience as a photographer allowed me to capture him like this, although it wasn’t easy," - Mukhin wrote, sharing a photo of the bird taken on January 9.

It is worth noting that rosellas can survive in temperatures as low as -20°C. They are the largest parrots in the rosella genus. In captivity, red rosellas are very calm and undemanding. They are less sensitive to drops in temperature compared to other rosellas.

Additionally, it is known that rosella parrots live in captivity for an average of 20-25 years.
