Resident of Dnipropetrovsk region, Yevhen Kuzmenko, cultivates figs using a special technology – in trenches. This was reported by "Vidomo," referencing a post from the gardener in the Facebook community "Figs in Ukraine."
He has been growing figs since 2001, initially in pots and later in open ground.
He performs rooting at a temperature of 23-25 degrees without growth stimulants, and then plants them in soil mixed with perlite.
During the warm season, the plants grow without additional heating, but in winter, they require support. Therefore, Yevhen bends them to the ground, covers them with agrotextile, pine needles, and film. He also covers the trenches with slate and soil, leaving an opening for ventilation.

"Dnipropetrovsk region. Trench. Soil temperature in the trench is +4.6 to +4.8 degrees Celsius. The mouse feeders are untouched, probably they don't want to eat. It's dry in the trench, no mold, and the remaining figs from autumn are still on the branches. There are 50 days left until spring,” – Yevhen wrote.
