Ukraine has successfully brought back eight more children from territories temporarily occupied by Russia. They were evacuated from the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson regions, and Crimea.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Telegram from the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

According to Yermak, as part of the initiative by the President of Ukraine, Bring Kids Back UA, eight Ukrainian children aged 6 to 16 were returned from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Luhansk, Donetsk regions, and Crimea.

"I thank the team of the Office, the Ombudsman’s Office, and Qatar, which helped return seven of the children. Another child was evacuated through a humanitarian corridor," added the head of the Office.

Among those returned are children who have endured severe hardships during the occupation.

One girl with serious neurological conditions was living with her grandmother in Crimea and lacked access to necessary medical treatment, which worsened her condition. The girl's mother was abroad and unable to retrieve her daughter.

Another 12-year-old boy found himself in an orphanage after losing his mother, where he was subjected to propaganda and was slated to be transferred to a Russian family. Despite the challenges, he maintained contact with his father living in Kharkiv.

"Now these children have returned to Ukraine, where they receive the necessary support from the state and love from their relatives," emphasized Yermak.

Deportation of Ukrainian Children

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russians have been mass deporting Ukrainian children. They are taken to Belarus, Russia, and some to occupied Crimea.

It is the deportation of Ukrainian children that led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court in The Hague for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Russia's Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova.

According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, since the onset of the full-scale war, Russia has deported more than 19,500 children from Ukraine. Over a thousand little Ukrainians have managed to return home.
