Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure must come to an end. They directly impact the survival of peaceful Ukrainians.
This is reported by RBK-Ukraine citing a statement from Jeremy Laurence, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Laurence emphasized that Russia's strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities are unlawful. They can have severe repercussions for the civilian population, particularly the elderly and vulnerable individuals.
"As temperatures drop below freezing and are likely to continue to decline, electricity and related services become increasingly critical for the survival of the civilian population," he added.
Laurence also urged Russia to immediately halt all attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, as it is vital for the civilian population. Those responsible for these unlawful strikes must be held accountable.
It is worth noting that over the past two weeks, Russian occupiers have carried out combined massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure twice.
In this context, energy providers have been forced to implement power outage schedules. Following yesterday's strike, the restrictions were the most severe—four circuits were shut down simultaneously.
