U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has instructed his aides to arrange a phone call with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin following his inauguration. This conversation may take place in the coming days.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing CNN.

According to the American broadcasting company, the purpose of the call between Trump and Putin will be to discuss a potential personal meeting in the upcoming months.

During this call, the U.S. president will attempt to put an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, informed sources told CNN.

The publication notes that officials from the national security team in Trump's administration began working on the phone call with Putin "a few weeks ago." However, it remains unclear whether a date for this call has been finalized.

Additionally, American media reminded that during the presidential campaign, while being a candidate, Trump promised to end Russia's wars with Ukraine within a day after his inauguration if he won the election.

However, later on, the timeline was pushed back by the president-elect's team. Currently, there are no clear signals indicating that the large-scale military aggression by Russia against Ukraine is nearing its end.

CNN also noted that Trump and his team hope to quickly begin working on a plan to resolve the military conflict, which could be implemented "within the first months of his presidency - including through direct talks with Putin."

Recall that about a week ago, Trump stated he would like to meet with Putin as soon as possible after his inauguration on January 20. According to the future U.S. president, the end of the war against Ukraine depends on the Russian dictator.

Prior to this, the future U.S. national security advisor Mike Waltz stated he expects a phone call between Trump and Putin "in the coming days and weeks". Additionally, the Kremlin has also expressed readiness for a meeting with Trump without any preconditions.
