The United Kingdom will take significant steps to assist Ukraine, which may include the deployment of military personnel.
This was stated by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing his speech.
According to him, the important steps involve economic sanctions and pressure on Russia to strengthen Ukraine. Any lasting peace must ensure Ukraine's sovereignty and security.
Moreover, Starmer mentioned that in the event of a peace agreement, the UK is prepared to send military personnel, potentially supported by air forces.
"We will go further to create a 'coalition of the willing' to uphold the agreement in Ukraine and guarantee peace. Not every country will be able to contribute, but that cannot mean we will sit idly by," he said.
He also noted that for success to be achieved, these efforts must be backed by the United States.
"Regarding the coalition, yes, some countries have already expressed their agreement and willingness to be part of this plan that we are working on. They will, of course, express their own opinions on the matter," Starmer added.
He acknowledged that he respects the positions of other nations that do not feel they can contribute by sending troops to Ukraine, but expressed confidence that even if a few participate, it will allow progress to be made.
"This is a carefully crafted plan that needs to be implemented as swiftly as possible to maintain peace, allied relations with the United States, and the security and defense of the United Kingdom and Europe," he concluded.
It is worth noting that today a summit dedicated to Ukraine took place in London. More than 10 state leaders, as well as EU and NATO leadership, participated.
