The U.S. has proposed that Ukraine transfer rights to 50% of its mineral reserves, according to a journalist from the Washington Post.

U.S. lawmakers are reportedly suggesting that Ukraine transfer rights to half of its mineral resources. This initiative was "presented" to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Washington Post correspondent Josh Rogin on social media X.

"Several legislators here in Munich told me that the U.S. Congressional delegation presented Zelensky with a document they wanted him to sign, which would grant the U.S. rights to 50% of Ukraine's future mineral resources. Zelensky politely declined to sign it," Rogin claims.

Officially, this information has not yet been confirmed.

Meanwhile, the President's Office stated that following the talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. Vice President JD Vance, the Ukrainian and American teams agreed to continue working on a document regarding economic partnership between the two countries. No further details were disclosed.

Partnership Agreement Between Ukraine and the U.S.

Recall that on February 12, it became known that during his visit to Kyiv, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent presented a draft economic partnership agreement to Ukrainian officials. The document addressed Ukraine's natural resources.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that such an agreement could be signed during the Munich Security Conference, which takes place from February 14 to 16.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary assured that the agreement would serve as a long-term "security shield" for Ukrainians.

Additionally, today, February 14, the Ukrainian delegation in Munich informed RBK-Ukraine that Ukraine has finalized the partnership agreement draft and submitted it for consideration by the American side.
