This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Telegram from Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov and the channel of the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Sinegubov.

The sound of an explosion in Kharkiv from the drone attack was heard around 22:02. Terekhov clarified that the drone hit the city center, leading to a drone impacting a high-rise building, which caused a fire on one of the floors.

Simultaneously, Sinegubov informed that the strike was recorded in the Saltivka district. He also confirmed that one of the strikes was in the city center, resulting in a balcony fire in an apartment building. At 22:10, the mayor of Kharkiv provided further details.

"The impact occurred in the Kyiv district, hitting a residential high-rise building. Regarding the injured, information is being clarified. All relevant services are on site," the report stated.

Minutes later, he added that one person was known to be injured.

Sinegubov reported that efforts to mitigate the consequences of the Russian strike in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv were ongoing.

"A 21-year-old man was injured, but he did not require hospitalization. As a result of the drone striking the high-rise, there was a fire in the apartments. The windows in nearby houses were also damaged," he wrote.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration stated that as of this moment, the number of injured had increased to three. They received medical assistance on site.

The mayor of the city reported that firefighters were currently extinguishing the fire that engulfed several apartments on the top floor of the high-rise due to the drone impact.

"At this moment, there are three injured: a 21-year-old man, an 80-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old man. All have refused hospitalization at this time," the report stated.

"Among the eight injured is a seven-year-old child. Additionally, as a result of the enemy drone's arrival, three homes were damaged, and nearly one hundred and fifty windows were broken. All relevant services and volunteers are working at the site," Terekhov wrote.

The State Emergency Service (SES) showed photos of the aftermath of the Russian attack on the Kyiv district of Kharkiv.

Emergency responders reported that as a result of the drone strike, there was partial destruction of a five-story residential building, and a fire broke out on the upper floors.

"Rescuers extinguished the fire, saved 5 people, and provided assistance to the injured. According to preliminary data, 8 people were injured, including a child. Emergency services, dog handlers, and psychologists worked at the site. A support point has been set up for residents," the SES added.

It is worth noting that on the night of March 2, Russian occupiers launched 79 drones at Ukraine. The air defense forces managed to destroy 63 drones, while another 16 drone imitators were locally lost.
