Shortly before the Munich Security Conference, the media reported that Trump's special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, would bring a peace plan from the U.S. president to Munich. Subsequently, Kellogg denied this claim, and as a result, no such plan was presented.
This was stated by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing a telethon broadcast.
He confirmed that there was indeed a productive meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special representative for the Russian-Ukrainian war, Keith Kellogg.
"And this is not just a formality. There was a very substantive conversation. The main point is that the U.S. is genuinely interested in ending the war, ensuring that this end is not just a temporary truce but a lasting peace. They clearly understand that Ukraine needs security guarantees," Yermak said.
When asked whether the Americans arrived with a plan to stop the war, the head of the Office of the President replied that there was no plan and explained why.
"We did not hear any specific plan, and it would be strange because there cannot be a plan that is not agreed upon with Ukraine," he emphasized.
Yermak noted that what is important is that a concrete process has begun, with consultations, discussions, and work by teams at the highest level.
"This was not the first phone call between Presidents Trump and Zelensky; we are already working with Mike Waltz, and General Kellogg is coming. I believe we will now work on a daily basis to develop such a plan," Andriy Yermak concluded.
We remind you that today President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a conversation with journalists at the Munich Security Conference, stated that Ukraine is ready for constructive negotiations, but the U.S. has not yet prepared a plan to end the war.
He also mentioned during the conference that it is too early to talk about a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. The president emphasized that Ukrainians need support from the U.S.
Additionally, he stated that peace negotiations involving the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia will be challenging, as all parties want to emerge victorious.
