Ukraine is witnessing a deterioration in relations with Britain following Keir Starmer's appointment as Prime Minister. London has yet to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Guardian.
The publication notes that Starmer has not visited Ukraine in the four months since he took office. Allegedly, officials in Kyiv believe that his trip would be pointless unless he commits to supplying Ukraine with additional Storm Shadow missiles.
"It makes no sense for him to come as a tourist," said a high-ranking official in the Office of the President of Ukraine to the publication.
According to The Guardian, Ukraine's main complaint against the UK is that it has not delivered any additional Storm Shadow missiles from its stockpiles.
"This is not happening. Starmer is not providing us with long-range weapons. The situation is no longer what it was when Rishi Sunak was Prime Minister. Relations have worsened," added the unnamed official.
He also mentioned that if Ukraine had received additional Storm Shadow missiles from Britain, it would have been apparent. In that case, Ukrainian defenders would have used them to strike Russian targets.
It is worth noting that Britain is one of three countries that agreed to assist Ukraine with long-range missiles. Storm Shadows were sent in 2023, but with the condition that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would not attack Russian territory with them.
Recall that the last known use of Storm Shadow missiles by Ukrainian defenders was on October 5.
At that time, Ukrainian aviation targeted command posts of the 35th and 27th separate motorized rifle brigades, as well as one of the command posts of the 2nd Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces.
