Foundation and first step. Zelensky's team clarified what a ceasefire with Russia should entail.

The foundation for a potential ceasefire between Ukraine and the Russian Federation must include strong security guarantees.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the website of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"There is a clear position that the basis of a potential ceasefire must include strong security guarantees. In particular, the possibility of involving NATO mechanisms is being considered as one of the security guarantees and for strengthening the Ukrainian army," the statement said.

At the same time, the president's press service noted that the ceasefire should begin with the exchange of prisoners and the return of children.

"This is a step that will demonstrate Russia's true intentions regarding peace," the press service added.

Recall that today, March 2, a summit of European leaders took place in London, with Ukraine being a key topic.

Following the summit, the UK announced that it would take significant steps to assist Ukraine. These include economic sanctions and pressure on Russia. Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed plans for the creation of a "coalition of willing" to ensure any peace agreement in Ukraine.

It is worth mentioning that during the press conference held after the summit, Starmer announced a new agreement to assist Ukraine.

He stated that the agreement will allow Ukraine to utilize £1.6 billion of British export financing to procure an additional 5,000 missiles for air defense.
