Western experts believe that Ukrainian partners might deploy military personnel as part of the EU peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Their number could reach up to 40,000 individuals.
This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing comments from Vladimir Fesenko, head of the Center for Applied Political Studies "Penta."
Specifically, Rzeczpospolita cites the opinion of Eli Tenenbaum from the French Institute of International Relations, who is involved in the project for such a mission. The expert suggests that it could consist of five brigades, totaling approximately 40,000 soldiers.
Fesenko emphasizes that this figure is significant and should be taken into account.
"Perhaps this is insufficient for deterring Russia, but we will still have our own army. By the way, its reduction will inevitably be a topic for negotiations. We need to maintain a strong and capable army, and on the other side, there should be a reduction to at least pre-war levels," he noted.
The interlocutor also pointed out that this figure is likely based on rough estimates regarding the number of personnel required to monitor a ceasefire along a front exceeding 1,000 km.
However, according to Fesenko, the fact that Ukraine's partners are discussing potential readiness is very positive.
