The Islamist movement HAMAS has released IDF soldier Aham Berger from captivity as part of an agreement with Israel.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Facebook page of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"The government of Israel embraces IDF soldier Aham Berger. Her family has been informed about her return to our forces. The government and security services will provide comprehensive support to her and her family," Netanyahu stated.
As reported by The Times of Israel, Berger was handed over to Red Cross representatives in Jabalia, after which she was transferred to the IDF in the Netzarim corridor area.
Israel and HAMAS recently reached an agreement regarding the release of hostages by the Islamist movement in the Gaza Strip, as well as a ceasefire in the enclave. The agreement came into effect on January 19, when HAMAS released the first three Israeli hostages, and Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners.
By January 27, Tel Aviv allowed civilians to return to the northern Gaza Strip.
