France has expedited the transfer of Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine, according to Zelensky.

France has agreed to expedite the delivery of Mirage fighter jets to Ukraine. Paris will also assist in strengthening Ukraine's air defense.

This information comes from RBK-Ukraine, citing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram.

According to the head of state, he held talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

"I thanked France for its readiness to assist with the urgent strengthening of Ukraine's air defense, as well as for comprehensive defense support and the acceleration of the transfer of Mirage aircraft," Zelensky wrote.

As noted by the Ukrainian president, he appreciates that France understands the challenges Ukraine is facing. The discussions included a detailed examination of how to enhance Ukraine's air defense.

"I emphasized the importance of inviting Ukraine to NATO, expanding long-range capabilities - not only as a necessary measure to counter Russian aggression but also to bring about peace," Zelensky clarified.

He added that the continuation of training and equipping Ukrainian brigades was also discussed, both on NATO territory and through the development of training missions within Ukraine.

Mirage for Ukraine

It is worth noting that the Mirage 2000-5F, which France has promised to provide to Ukraine, is a multirole fighter. It will help enhance Ukrainian aviation.

Back in October, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot promised that the first fighters would be delivered to Ukraine in early 2025.

However, the exact number of aircraft that Ukraine will receive remains unknown.
