European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Europe urgently needs to be rearmed. She will propose a plan regarding this next week.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing The Guardian.

Following the summit in London, von der Leyen mentioned that European leaders had a productive and candid discussion about what is necessary to position Ukraine as a power. According to her, Ukraine requires comprehensive security guarantees to support its economic and military standing.

She emphasized that Europe needs to be urgently rearmed, and the European Commission will present a plan on this matter at the summit on March 6.

"It is extremely important to increase defense investments over the long term. This is for the security of the EU. In the geostrategic environment we live in, we must prepare for the worst, which means strengthening our defense," von der Leyen stressed.

We remind you that today a summit of European leaders took place in London, and the key topic of the meeting was Ukraine. In particular, the agenda included discussions on strengthening our country's positions at this time (both militarily and in terms of economic pressure on Russia), the necessity for a long-term agreement that ensures peace in Ukraine, as well as the next steps in developing security guarantees.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that there is still no peace agreement for Ukraine. He emphasized the need to clarify security guarantees from Europe. He noted that allies want to ensure that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not attempt to attack Ukraine again.
