The Chinese Foreign Minister stated that Europe must play a crucial role in the peace process concerning Ukraine.

The war between Russia and Ukraine is taking place on European soil. Therefore, Europe must be involved in the peace process.

This was stated by China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Financial Times.

According to him, China welcomes negotiations between the USA and Russia regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.

"China hopes that all efforts will lead to peace, especially if the USA reaches a mutual understanding with Russia. This war is happening on European soil. Europe must play an important role in this process," emphasized Wang Yi.

He also dismissed the possibility that China would reduce its import of Russian gas to pressure Russia.

"If China does not buy gas from Russia, which other country can it buy that much gas from? We must take responsibility for our people," stated the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Europe's Involvement in Ukraine Negotiations

Recall that earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly stated that Europe must participate in negotiations to end the war with Russia.

According to the head of state, Ukraine needs allies and fair partners at the moment when the hot stage of the war is coming to an end.

Furthermore, today, February 14, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, stated that she will "absolutely" participate in peace negotiations.
