The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, "needs to come to his senses and return to the negotiating table with gratitude." Otherwise, "someone else should lead the country."
This was stated by the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, as reported by RBK-Ukraine citing NBC News.
"President (Donald, - ed.) Trump is trying to bring these two sides (Ukraine and Russia, ed.) to a point of peace. What President Zelensky did at the White House effectively signaled to us that he is not yet ready for this, and I think that is a significant disappointment," Johnson said.
The Speaker emphasized that Trump made it very clear that "if Zelensky is ready for peace," the U.S. would agree to continue negotiations.
Johnson stressed that for Ukraine to continue the implementation of the peace agreement brokered by the U.S., Zelensky "must come to his senses and return to the negotiating table with gratitude, or someone else must lead the country."
Recall that on Friday, February 28, Zelensky visited the U.S.
However, during a press conference at the White House, a dispute arose between Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Vice President Di Vance.
The parties discussed the war between Russia and Ukraine, security guarantees, resulting in the meeting between the leaders being prematurely concluded, and the agreement on mineral resources was not signed.

It is worth noting that earlier today, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Zelensky of "undermining efforts" for peace negotiations.
Additionally, we also reported that Trump's team responded regarding the potential change of the President of Ukraine.
