According to the Ministry of Energy, "Ukrenergo" owes over 18 billion hryvnias to participants in the balancing market.

As of February 2025, NEC "Ukrenergo" has a debt of 18.4 billion UAH to participants in the balancing market, with 6.8 billion UAH owed to "Ukrhydroenergo."
Минэнерго сообщает, что долг "Укрэнерго" перед участниками балансирующего рынка превышает 18 миллиардов гривен.

The debt of NEC "Ukrenergo" to the participants of the balancing market as of February 2025 amounts to UAH 18.4 billion, of which UAH 6.8 billion is owed to "Ukrhydroenergo".

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the First Deputy Minister of Energy Yuriy Sheiko during a meeting of the Committee on Energy and Public Utilities.

"The debt of Ukrenergo to the participants in the balancing market is UAH 18.4 billion. This is UAH 800 million more than at the beginning of February," said Sheiko.

According to him, the debt to Ukrenergo itself has exceeded UAH 36 billion, of which UAH 11.8 billion is owed by the last resort supplier, Ukrinterenergo.

He added that the main reason for the accumulation of debts is the non-payment by companies in state and municipal ownership.

It is worth noting that the debt to producers of electricity from renewable sources as of the end of February stands at UAH 24.7 billion.

Experts have previously pointed out that debts in the energy market could lead to investment restrictions in the energy system and worsen its stability.
