The Israeli army targeted Hezbollah smuggling operations along the Lebanese-Syrian border.

The Israel Defense Forces struck checkpoints along the border between Lebanon and Syria. These checkpoints are used by the "Hezbollah" group to smuggle weapons into Lebanese territory.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Israel Defense Forces.

It is noted that the strikes occurred overnight on Thursday, February 20. Israeli military officials described Hezbollah's actions as a serious violation of the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

"The IDF continues to act to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel and will take action to prevent any attempts by the terrorist organization 'Hezbollah' to rebuild its forces," the statement reads.

Israel's War with the "Hezbollah" Group

Since October 2023, the Lebanese Islamic group "Hezbollah" has regularly shelled northern regions of Israel in support of the Palestinian movement Hamas. The Israeli army responded with heavy bombardments of southern Lebanon and the capital city, Beirut.

In November 2024, Israel and the leadership of "Hezbollah" reached a ceasefire agreement. Under its terms, Israel committed to withdrawing its troops from Lebanese territory within 60 days, while Hezbollah militants were to leave southern Lebanon.

However, the IDF regularly attacks specific Islamist targets that pose a threat and violate the terms of the agreement.

On February 17, Israeli forces attacked a number of military sites in Lebanon where Hezbollah's missile launchers and weapons were located.

And in early February, the Israel Army struck a Hezbollah tunnel between Syria and Lebanon.
